Week's News and Assignments in Room 113

What a wonderful first week we have had in Room 113!!!  Hopefully you had a blessed summer and were ready to begin a new school year with your child in second grade.  We did many exciting learning projects this week including a great science experiment with paper/structure/weight as well as the introduction of our mealworms!!! Each student has their own mealworm in a cup and will watch it change from a larva to a pupa to a darkling beetle.  The mealworms' habitat is corn meal in a cup, and they have potato pieces for food and moisture.  Your second grader has named his/her worm and will have some great experiences over the next few weeks, including a timing of how quickly it can burrow in a mound of corn meal.  Beginning homework will start Tuesday, 9-7, with full regular homework beginning on 9-20.  We look forward to our 4 learning days next week to review the "basics" of good behavior and citizenship at Charter Oak and stimulate our brains to want more learning.  We hope your Labor Day weekend is restful and blessed!!!
